Description

Poster shows caricature of German Kaiser Wilhelm II dressed in the bishop robes and mitre of St. Nicholas and General Moritz von Bissing, German governor-general of occupied Belgium depicted as his assistant Zwarte Piet as giant figures surrounded by small figures. A man is brought forward, two German solders holding him on each side. Zwarte Piet is taking a baby away from a woman on her knees, a small child stands behind her. Additional caption reads: "Zwarte knecht von Bissing: Lieve menschen, wij kunnen toch geen beter geschenk aan het hongerend België geven, dan door de ergste eters er uit weg to halen!" [Black Pete von Bissing speaks: Dear people, we cannot give a better gift to starving Belgium than taking away these worse eaters!].
