Description

Poster shows caricatures of C.J. Snijders, commander of the Netherlands Armed and Naval Forces and Nicolaas Bosboom, Dutch Secretary of War on a movie set, standing on either side of the symbolic Dutch lion. Bosboom is using a hand pump to inflate the Dutch lion, the Dutch motto on the Netherlands coat of arms "Je Maintiendrait" [I will maintain] is partially visible across its enlarged stomach. A man with his back to the viewer wearing a hat and cloak operates a camera in the foreground. General Snijders is gesturing to the cameraman with one hand and his other hand has a finger on the corner of his mouth in a thoughtful gesture. Additional caption title reads: "'Snijders: Pas op, niet te erg opblazen, Bosboom, anders barst-ie!" [Snijders speaks: Be careful not to blow it up too much, Bosboom, otherwise it will burst!].
