Description

Poster shows Dutch agricultural minister Folkert Posthuma sidling up to a pig holding a lorgnette, sitting on a raised throne. In the background a crowd rushes through a doorway, the person in front carrying a sign "Honger" [Hunger]. Additional image caption reads: "Minister Posthuma: Vrees niet Margaretha, het zijn maar Hollandsche armoedzaaiers! Uw koninklijke hoogheit komt in hun magen niet meer terecht!" [Minister Posthuma speaks: 'Fear not, Margaretha, these are Dutch paupers! Your royal highness doesn't come up in their stomachs!] The word "hun" [their] is italicized. Additional smaller caption quotation in French reads: "Ce ne sont que des Gueux" [These are just beggars].
