Japanese officers Kyu-gunto D guard katana in superb condition.
Mei- Unsigned & ubu.
Length-60.8 cm
Lovely blade in good original polish, it has a peaceful undulating flowing hamon with tobiyaki islands, no flaws anywhere, a couple of small open hada as is the case with 90% of swords.
Blade I believe is early Shinto period
Koshirae is near immaculate, superb gilding & silver family mon, scabbard is plated steel with leather combat cover, just a small section where stitching has let go. easy fix or leave it as it, I would wipe some leather dressing over the cover if I was keeping it.
If you just wanted 1 nice example of this style for your collection then you cant go past this for the money.
