Genuine Napoleonic Hesse Infantry Shako, fantastic & scarce item. I am the 1st to admit I know very little about this era of helmet & the field of collecting it belongs too but I totally trust the source from where it came & seeing his collection which has been on display in several venues around the country I believe he knows his field quite well.
Body is a felt. wool type material with the odd moth hole as seen in pics, leather top has light crazing as per the images, rest of the leather is quite good with only minimal wear for a helmet its age , Correct original badge & cockade to front, wool pompom style plume ( probably replaced but may be original)
One chin strap broken but is just hanging on by one of the scales, you could fix it but I leave as I find as I am more likely to damage something more if I tried to fix it.
sweat band & lining inside helmet are intact. if I have missed anything or you have questions just drop me a line.

Upon some research it would appear you would pay near double this price in Euro's & that's if you can find one. Guaranteed authentic & of the era
