Description

Ivory hilt silver mounted British sword hallmarks date to late 1700s, the silver smith was Elizabeth Tookey circa 1770, she & her family were very famous silver smiths.
The sword is in lovely condition, the blade is etched but is very faint , ivory hilt is superb as images show, The only bad point is the leather scabbard is almost broken in half , its not broken all the way through but it wouldn't take a lot to complete the break,it needs to be handled with care.
Price-$3500

Research shows that Elizabeth is the wife of spoon maker James Tookey and mother of spoon maker Thomas. Elizabeth took over after James died. supposedly the family's spoons were ordered by George Washington. One of her sons spoons sold at one of sotherbys auctions for 15,600 dollars (or may have been pounds) so obviously they were well regarded silver smiths. I imagine they wouldn't have made a lot of swords.
