Beautiful Samurai Sunnobi Tanto in Shirasaya with Koshirae NBTHK Hozon Papers.

The blade is in full Japanese polished & is 100% flawless, please remember this is a very old blade close to 600 years old, The spots you see on the blade are oil ,dust & specks of timber from the shirasaya, all wipe off, i dont wipe blades all the time as it risks scratching polish for no reason.iF YOU ARE A SERIOUS BUYER I WILL REDO IMAGES ON REQUEST.otherwise i will do them again when i next clean all the blades.

Habaki- Shakudo
Blade length-30.8cm = 12.12 inches.
Sori- (curvature) 0.4cm = 0.15 inches.
Mekugi-1
Width at the hamachi- 2.75 cm = 1.08 inches.
Kasane- 0.52 cm = 0.20 inches.

Era- Late Muromachi period.
Shape - The blade is wide and thick sakisori style.(the blade has curve at the head)
Jitetsu - Itame hada well grained with jinie ,shirake utsuri also present
Hamon - Niedeki gunome midare up and down which looks like Kanefusa style work

Generally Tanto made in Mino province is wide and thick sakizori style.

From the Jigane and Hamon, the sword looks very similar with Kanefusa style.
The blade is healthy and looks great.

Fantastic set of Koshirae consists of the following
Tsuba- Mokko style shakudo nanako with, maple leaves in gold with rim in Shakudo fukurin.
Fuchi / kashira - shibuichi with gold highlights of ugly pug a type of Japanese God, the same appears on the end of the scabbard. so its all matching.
Saya -brown red color lacquer with fantastic art work of Bamboo Leaves, rocks & water all done in gold & black, a tiger made from shakudo also adorns the scabbard
Menuki : Shakudo God of Fudo with gold inlay superb menuki
Kozuka Superb piece of lovebirds with gold inblay ,also bamboo leaves,On the back, gold plates are put on the shibuichi plate. signed Nori yasu . Konen 80 years old when he made it.this is a fantastic tanto, as usual my images just dont do it justice.
