[ s375 ] A fine Victorian British officers sword VR cipher

Description

A fine Victorian British officers sword VR cipher, the blade on this is so close to mint, its bright all the way along both sides with clear etching, the blade is also quite a fine blade as in its quite a narrow blade, its also a very straight blade, the hilt is in very good condition retaining the majority of its gold gilt, fish skin wrap & wire are quite nice, maker marked on one side E Thurkle Soho London. The address would put this as being made from around 1876-1888/9
The only let down is the scabbard wear, it would clean up a lot if so desired but of course it won't be perfect ever again unless it was re coated professionally. of you could track down a scabbard in better condition, its then no longer original in my opinion.
The sword is actually nicer in person when compared to the images.
