Nice civilian mounted gendaito katana, nice matching fuchi/kashira, iron with gold inlay to look like pine needles, Pierced iron sukashi tsuba with engraving, gold inlaid menuki on shakudo base. Habaki is nice silver wrapped brass one piece.
The blade is in only polish but is still quite nice as images show, The hamon starts off small then jumps up into a what appears to be or resemples an attempt of Mt Fuji design, then the wide hamon continues the full length of the blade each side, There are no flaws, open hada etc, the blade is very healthy & whilst a light polish would make it pop it can be enjoyed as it stands. At the very worst the blade might have a couple of nail catcher nicks, plus the usual scuffs & scratches you get on any blade thats not been replished in recent years.
The blade is Mu-mei & has no stamps etc,& would have been made in the taisho era which is anywhere from around 1878 to 1926 period,
The saya is a nicely lacquered timber in very good condition.
