Description

1853 Pat British sword made by Rodwell & co London (actually made by Rodwell of India for the Indian regiments)
Designed off the British made model Rodwell was contracted to make these swords for the Baruda Native State Forces, the local Indian cavalry as a one off contract using the same steel as the rail tracks, they were made between 1853-1900
This has a quite a nice blade but does has some area's of pitting, the 3 bar hilt is coated in old grease which is dry & does clean off , also has some surface rust which would clean up quite well, grips are reasonable condition (far from perfect like most of these you will see) , unit marked guard , leather scabbard is in very good condition but the steel fittings have old grease & some surface rust as per the images, the steal fittings would clean up heaps but will never be perfect due to the surface rust,
I don't clean anything I just oil every item to protect it & leave it, I sell it as I find it, some people like the patina whereas others like to clean them up
