3966 Rare ww2 Australian Women's National Emergency league Transport badge- maker marked on the rear, many of these girls/women were trained to drive transport vehicles & help out with the US forces that were based here in ww2- extremely hard badge to find.
The Brisbane headquarters for the Women's National Emergency League was located in the YMCA Building in Adelaide Street., In July 1942, nine WNEL transport drivers were assigned to the Quartermaster of Townsville, twelve went to Charleville, five to Charters Towers, seven to Mount Isa and later approximately sixty to Cairns. so with that in mind, very few of these badges will exist today
