[ 2335 ] ww1 Australian Gallantry medal group MC trio plus ww2 and 100 ww1 war letters GREAT CITATION
ww1 Australian Gallantry medal group MC trio with ww2 service medals, and there over 170 original war letters he sent home to his family, I started reading them, I read around 20 , he tells of what is happening throughout his campaign, I would like to get time to read them all but I doubt that will happen, the letters alone will sell of flea bay for $40 each up to as much as $100 each ,most ww1 letters i have seen sell on fleabay have sold from 40 to 100 plus & they were not from an MC recipient & had bugger all interesting in them whereas this guys letters make for some real interesting reading. so there is at least 2 to 4k value & more just in the letters.
Medals are all named except for the MC which is un-named as per issue, I purchased the group direct from his grandson quite some time ago.
Then group also has a later Photo with it, sadly the brave old soldier passed away in 1951 there are also copies of his field promotion certificates, The grandson was 'going to" drop the originals back to me but he never did.
THIS CROSS WAS NOT EARNED FOR JUST BEING "A JOLLY GOOD CHAP" ETC- he earned his MC for a gutsy charge of a Machine gun nest.
Military Cross
'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He led his platoon with great dash during an attack. With one N.C.O. he crept forward and rushed an enemy post, capturing a machine gun and seven prisoners. He set a fine example of courage and determination.'
