Description

CONSIGNMENT ITEM
I don't own this sword, it listed for a friend of mine as a favour.

Phoenix Head Samurai court tachi with early Koto blade signed "munechika" he worked around 1380-1390, blade has bohi ( grooves) very reasonable old polish with suguha hamon, very healthy for its age, just a couple of tiny open hada which is expected in a blade this age, images should show every inch of the blade, nice big sori.

Fittings are all quite nice, one seppa has been lost to time but has a leather replacement, you may be able to source one of the seppa (spacers) or you could have one made to suit the shape of the tsuba, drag cap if missing off the bottom of the scabbard, the doe skin hangers have a couple of copper wire repairs

I did forget to measure the cutting edge when it was bought to me, its possibly a little under 24 inches but i am just guessing , it may be a touch over katana length.
all in all its a great sword, no national treasure but a nice piece.

The owners asking price is $6000. i am not making 1 cent from the sale, anyone interested will be put in direct contact with the owner to finalise any deal.
